We're thrilled to announce the preview of DiskANN, one of the fastest vector indexing algorithms on the market, which is now available for Azure Database for PostgreSQL. Developed at Microsoft Research, DiskANN is used extensively at Microsoft in global services such as Bing and Microsoft 365.
DiskANN enables you to build highly accurate, performant, and scalable generative AI applications that surpass pgvector’s HNSW and IVFFlat indexes in both speed and accuracy. DiskANN also overcomes a long-standing limitation of pgvector in filtered vector search, where it occasionally returns incorrect results.
