We are pleased to introduce global databases for Azure Cosmos DB. You can use global databases to replicate data across multiple Azure regions and achieve low-latency access with well-defined data consistency, along with 99.99 percent availability. Global databases are designed to meet the needs of planet-scale applications, such as IoT systems that serve globally distributed devices or Internet-scale web applications that deliver highly personalized experiences. These multi-region databases offer failover capabilities for continuous operation of cloud applications. Azure Cosmos DB global databases are available in preview.
