Description

ExpressRoute guided experience for configuring multi-site resiliency circuits and connections is generally available. The guided experience makes resiliency the central aspect of configuring ExpressRoute circuits and virtual network gateway connections. Three resiliency options—maximum, high, and standard—are offered. Maximum resiliency offers redundancy both across peering locations and within a peering location. High resiliency offers redundancy across peering locations, but not within a peering location. The standard resiliency offers redundancy only within a peering location. The new experience provides information including distance between the peering-locations (sites) and traffic engineering recommendations to help customers make informed configuration decisions. The experience is available via Azure portal, PowerShell scripts, and ARM templates.

The general availability of the experience includes:

  • configuring maximum and high multi-site resiliency ExpressRoute circuits.
  • configuring standard single-site resiliency ExpressRoute circuit and augmenting for multi-site resiliency.
  • connecting multi-site resilient ExpressRoute circuits to a VNet gateway.
  • connecting standard ExpressRoute circuit to a VNet gateway and augmenting for multi-site resiliency.
  • configuration via Azure portal, using PowerShell and Arm template scripts
