We are adding the maintenance control functionality to the ability to automatically upgrade OS images in Virtual Machine Scale Sets. You are now able to declare a maintenance window during which Azure will automatically apply OS images to your scale set instances.
The OS image is rolled out across regions in a phased manner following safe deploy practices and with health integration. With this feature you can be assured that your instances are only updated during the desired maintenance window.
