With the addition of PostgreSQL to Azure Cosmos DB, you will notice the names of the existing database APIs have been updated. This update will provide greater clarity for you when selecting a database API to use with the Azure Cosmos DB service.
The new database API names are:
Azure Cosmos DB for NoSQL (previously: “Core (SQL) API”)
Azure Cosmos DB for MongoDB (previously: “API for MongoDB”)
Azure Cosmos DB for PostgreSQL (new to Azure Cosmos DB)
Azure Cosmos DB for Apache Cassandra (previously: “Cassandra API”)
Azure Cosmos DB for Table (previously: “Table API”)
Azure Cosmos DB for Apache Gremlin (previously: “Gremlin API”)
