Azure has always provided built-in protection through storage redundancy. Today, we enhance the level of data protection afforded to customers’ applications. Customers can now make use of sophisticated policy-driven VM-level backup management capabilities to protect their Azure IaaS VMs against accidental deletion and data corruption scenarios. VMs that are running Windows operating systems can be protected at application-level consistency, and VMs that are running Linux operating systems can be protected at file-system-level consistency.
