Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) bring-your-own-subscription (BYOS) images are now available through a preview process in the Azure Marketplace, in addition to the existing pay-as-you-go (PAYG) images.
This will benefit RHEL users who currently have entitlements for on-premises environments and would like to migrate to Azure without paying extra for PAYG images. The BYOS images available are fully supported and are identical to the PAYG images, but are "unentitled", that is, not connected to any source of updates. Additionally, these BYOS images do not charge the RHEL billing premiums that the PAYG images have.
To access the BYOS images, customers will need to follow an authorization process to ensure they are in possession of valid RHEL entitlements. Start at https://aka.ms/rhel-byos. This authorization process is in preview and subject to change but does not affect the images in any way.
