Over the
past decade, Microsoft Azure operated by 21Vianet (Azure in China) has been
expanding the Azure cloud infrastructure in China, demonstrating long-term
investment in the market. Azure in China is committed to building a
compliant, flexible, and innovative cloud platform to meet the unique needs of
customers.
As part of
this commitment, Azure in China consistently evaluates opportunities to
optimize the deployment of the cloud datacenter infrastructure to support
customer’s critical work efficiently and in a modern, more secure and
cost-effective manner.
With this in
mind, Azure in China announces the 2 first-generation regions, China
North 1 and China East 1, will be retired on July 1, 2026, as the
infrastructure of these regions does not support advanced Azure products and
workloads.
Azure in
China will continue to operate in multiple regions, such as China North 3,
which provide enhanced capabilities to the China North 1 and China East 1
regions. As long as customer migrates out of these regions before July 1, 2026, this will not impact the ability to use Azure in
China.
Beginning
July 1, 2026, China North 1 and China East 1 regions will be retired, and
customers will experience disruption in their services if they have not
migrated their Azure resources from these
two regions.
To avoid
disruptions to applications, customers are recommended to complete migration of
their Azure resources by July 1, 2026.
