LocalDNS for AKS is
now generally available.
Large-scale Kubernetes clusters often face DNS resolution
delays and reliability issues, especially during upstream outages or high query
volumes. To address this, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) now offers LocalDNS, a
feature that is generally available.
LocalDNS deploys a DNS proxy on each node, enabling faster
and more reliable DNS resolution by handling queries locally. This eliminates
bottlenecks, reduces latency, and ensures continued resolution even during
upstream DNS outages through configurable serve-stale settings.
With no application-level changes required, LocalDNS
delivers immediate performance improvements and supports advanced DNS
customization for both internal and external domains.
