Description

Microsoft is announcing the general availability of Azure DocumentDB, a fully managed document database service built on the open-source, MongoDB-compatible DocumentDB, now governed by the Linux Foundation. Formerly known as Azure Cosmos DB for MongoDB (vCore), Azure DocumentDB gives you the power of open source with the performance, security, and scale of Azure.

What you gain:

  • Freedom and flexibility. Build once and deploy anywhere with a consistent open-source MongoDB-compatible database that runs across hybrid and multi-cloud environments.

  • AI-ready innovation. Use built-in vector and hybrid search to power retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), copilots, and other intelligent applications.

  • Elastic performance. Get instant autoscale and independent compute and storage scaling—so you pay only for what you use.

  • Enterprise-grade reliability and security. Protect your data with Microsoft Entra ID authentication, customer-managed keys, and 35-day backups at no additional cost, backed by 99.999% uptime full-stack service-level agreements and around-the-clock Azure support.

With Azure DocumentDB, you can modernize your MongoDB workloads, build AI-driven apps faster, and scale globally on an open, flexible, and enterprise-ready foundation.
