Developers today are building more intelligent, connected, and autonomous applications than ever before. From personalized chatbots and copilots to dynamic content engines and decision systems, data is the foundation of these agentic experiences.
Azure Cosmos DB already plays a central role in powering these workloads, offering globally distributed, low-latency, highly scalable data services with flexible API support. However, developers told us they wanted a way to interact with their Cosmos DB data directly from Visual Studio Code (VS Code), where they already spend most of their time writing, debugging, and testing code.
With this release, we’re delivering exactly that—a unified, fast, and developer-first experience for working with Azure Cosmos DB data without leaving your coding environment.
Now generally available, Azure Cosmos DB for VS Code comes with significant updates focused on usability, stability, and performance. It incorporates months of feedback from preview users, who helped shape this extension into the powerful tool it is today.
