Now you can run bigger, faster workloads on fewer nodes using high-performance storage for Azure DocumentDB. This update delivers up to 64 TiB capacity, 80,000 IOPS, and 1,200 MB/s throughput per physical shard (node). Storage IOPS and throughput on Azure DocumentDB clusters with high-performance storage are always optimized by default—configured using the maximum values permitted by the selected compute and storage combination.
This update provides the headroom required for I/O-intensive applications and very large datasets, helping you to consolidate data that previously needed many shards and to maintain low latency at peak traffic. Real-time analytics, personalization, and high-volume commerce scenarios benefit from predictable throughput and consistent performance as you scale.
To get started, you can create a cluster with high-performance storage in the Azure portal, then benchmark your workload to right-size shards and compute for your targets.
