Description

You can now build and host reliable production-grade AI agents using the durable extension for Microsoft Agent Framework. This integration combines the Microsoft Agent Framework with Azure Functions’ durable capabilities, delivering proven orchestration and resilience for serverless AI agent hosting. You gain automatic session management, built-in HTTP endpoints, and elastic scaling from zero to thousands of instances—all with pay-per-use pricing and automated infrastructure management.

Key capabilities include:

  • Stateful agent sessions: Maintain persistent conversation history across distributed instances with automatic failover for uninterrupted operation.
  • Durable tool calls: Checkpoint progress during long-running tool invocations, extending beyond typical timeout limits.
  • Deterministic multi-agent orchestration: Coordinate specialized agents through predictable, code-driven workflows that survive failures and restarts.
  • Human-in-the-loop workflows: Pause orchestrations for days or weeks awaiting human approval at zero compute cost, then resume seamlessly.
  • Built-in observability: Access deep insights via the durable task scheduler dashboard with execution replay, conversation history, and integrated performance metrics.

The extension supports both C# and Python, enabling developers to deploy AI agents confidently on Azure Functions with enterprise-grade durability and scalability.
