Remote storage throughput and network bandwidth performance
enhancements for the latest Azure Boost architecture are now in preview.
Azure
Boost is a Microsoft Azure system that offloads virtualization tasks—such as
networking, storage, and host management—from the hypervisor and host OS to
purpose-built hardware and software, freeing CPU resources for customer
workloads while enhancing security through physical isolation and hardware root
of trust. By reducing maintenance impact and improving scalability, Azure Boost
enables faster, more secure, and highly efficient cloud operations for
demanding workloads.
Performance
enhancements of this latest architecture include up to 20 GBps remote storage
throughput, up to 1 M remote storage IOPS, and up to 400 Gbps network
bandwidth. These enhancements will be available beginning with the D/E/Fsv7 Intel
“Granite Rapids” VMs (in preview). Other new VMs will also begin using this
architecture and will provide similar performance capabilities.
