Description

On March 31, 2029, Azure Cosmos DB for PostgreSQL will be retired, and you'll need to migrate to Azure Database for PostgreSQL Elastic Cluster by that date.

Azure Database for PostgreSQL Elastic Cluster delivers the same distributed PostgreSQL capabilities as Azure Cosmos DB for PostgreSQL, with full feature parity built on the Citus extension. It adds a simpler and more transparent pricing model, broader compute choices, and support for newer PostgreSQL versions, while providing built-in high availability, automated backups, point-in-time restore, and disaster recovery. Elastic Cluster also offers elastic scaling, integrated monitoring, and the security and compliance features of Azure Database for PostgreSQL—giving you a more streamlined, future-ready platform without requiring application code changes.
