Description

Azure Functions runtime v3 was retired on December 13, 2022. As part of ongoing efforts to reduce reliance on legacy infrastructure and focus investments on supported platforms, Azure will enforce this retirement for Linux Consumption–based Function Apps still running runtime v3.

After September 30, 2026, Function Apps using runtime v3 on Linux Consumption will no longer start or process executions, and existing deployments in this configuration will stop functioning.

To avoid service disruption, customers must migrate affected apps to Azure Functions runtime v4 before the enforcement date. Since Linux Consumption is itself retiring in September 2028, customers are encouraged to migrate to Azure Functions Flex Consumption, which supports runtime v4 and ongoing platform updates.
