Description

Per-partition automatic failover (PPAF) is now generally available in Azure Cosmos DB, bringing faster recovery and higher availability to your mission-critical applications.

With PPAF, you no longer need to fail over an entire account during a regional disruption. Azure Cosmos DB automatically fails over only the impacted partitions, while healthy partitions continue serving traffic. This approach sharply reduces disruption, shortens recovery times, and removes the need for manual intervention during outages.

PPAF helps you meet stringent availability and durability requirements without redesigning your application or operating multiple write regions. You can run highly resilient workloads with predictable performance, while Azure Cosmos DB transparently handles partition-level recovery behind the scenes.
