Azure
IoT Central will be retired on September 20, 2029.
You can continue using Azure IoT Central until the retirement date, but we
recommend starting your transition planning early.
Why
is this happening?
As
Azure IoT evolves, Microsoft is focusing future investment on Azure IoT
platform services that provide greater scalability, architectural flexibility,
lifecycle management, and integration with Microsoft Fabric for analytics and
AI-driven workloads. Azure IoT Hub, Device Provisioning Service (DPS), and
Azure Device Registry represent the recommended Azure-native platform for
connected operations.
Recommended
action
- Review
your current Azure IoT Central applications, devices, dashboards, ,
and integrations.
- Evaluate
Azure IoT Hub and DPS as the target architecture for device connectivity
and provisioning.
- Evaluate
Microsoft Fabric for real-time analytics, dashboards, and broader data
experiences.
- Use the Azure IoT Central
migration playbook to map existing IoT Central
scenarios to Azure IoT services.
- Begin
planning and executing your transition before September 20, 2029.
- If
additional assistance is required, engage Microsoft field teams or an Azure IoT migration partner.
