Microsoft is retiring Azure Arc-enabled System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM) in September 2029. Customers must plan and transition to alternative solutions.
What does this mean for you?If you are using Azure Arc-enabled SCVMM for:
- Azure services and Azure Arc capabilities such as monitoring, security, governance, updates, and licensing for Extended Security Updates and Pay-as-you-go SQL and WS, we recommend switching to Azure Arc-enabled Servers.
- VM lifecycle and powercycle operations such as create, start, stop, restart, resize, and self-service VM management, we recommend that you reach out to us through e-mail to [email protected].
What action should you take?- Review your current use of Azure Arc-enabled SCVMM.
- Determine the appropriate migration path: Azure Arc-enabled Servers or if you need help, reach out to Microsoft.
- Follow the migration guidance to deboard your SCVMM environment from Azure Arc and onboard to your alternative solution.
We recommend beginning your transition planning as soon as possible to ensure a smooth migration before retirement. You can also share your feedback or any concerns that you may have during this transition through e-mail to
[email protected].
