As part of the Microsoft Azure VM lifecycle
policy, Microsoft is announcing the retirement of the Dv3, Dsv3, Ev3, and
Esv3 Azure VM series in public cloud Azure regions. These VMs will enter the
End-of-Life lifecycle stage and retire on November 15, 2029.
We know migrating production workloads takes planning and
engineering time. To keep your applications and workloads running without
interruption, migrate any Dv3, Dsv3, Ev3, or Esv3 series VMs to a newer VM
series before November 15, 2029. After this date, Dv3, Dsv3, Ev3, and Esv3
virtual machines will enter the Retired lifecycle stage and will no longer be
supported on Azure. Virtual machines not transitioned by that time may be
deallocated and ultimately deleted as the underlying hardware and platform
infrastructure are retired. We recommend evaluating available modernization
options as soon as possible and moving to newer VM generations, such as Azure
Dsv5 or Esv5v5 series virtual machines, to maintain uninterrupted service and
gain improved performance, security, and reliability.
Additionally, as previously
communicated, as of July 1, 2026, one-year and three-year Reserved
Instances (RIs) for the Dv3, Dsv3, Ev3, and Esv3 VM series are no
longer available for purchase or renewal. If you would like to continue
commitment savings, we recommend reviewing your current
reserved instance orders and if RIs are still in effect for these
VMs, consider a trade-in
of active reservations for Azure
savings plan for compute contracts.
