Azure
Migrate now supports discovery and assessment for network-attached storage,
allowing customers and partners to plan migrations of Dell PowerScale (OneFS)
and NetApp ONTAP storage to Azure. The Azure Migrate appliance connects
directly to your NAS clusters using read-only credentials, inventories every
SMB, NFS, and S3 share, and evaluates each share against Azure Files, Azure
Blob Storage, and Azure NetApp Files.
Key benefits include:
- Discover Dell PowerScale/Isilon and NetApp ONTAP/FAS clusters
and the shares they host
- Group, tag, and filter NAS shares alongside your existing
server, application, and database inventory
- Assess each share with readiness, a right-sized Azure target
configuration, and monthly cost estimates
- Generate a business case comparing Azure storage services
against on-premises cost, and sequence moves using wave plans
This capability replaces manual, spreadsheet-driven
NAS planning with a verified per-share inventory and a defensible cost basis,
especially for large or multi-protocol storage estates.
NAS
is often the largest and least-understood part of an on-premises estate.
Bringing NAS discovery and assessment into Azure Migrate means storage is
planned in the same project, and the same business case, as the servers and
applications that depend on it.
Getting started:
To
get started, update your Azure Migrate appliance, add your NAS cluster as a
discovery source, and run an assessment directly from the Azure portal. Write to us at
