Public preview starts mid-March 2025, with general availability by late March 2025. Admins can configure this feature in policy settings. In Microsoft Purview, you can access this feature in Policy settings > Create policy > Create rule > Apply restrictions to only unsupported file extensions:
This feature is available by default for admins to configure.

This rollout will happen automatically by the specified dates with no admin action required before the rollout. Review your current configuration to determine the impact for your organization. You may want to notify your users about this change and update any relevant documentation.
