We will retireWe’re retiring the Microsoft Lens mobile app fromfor iOS and Android in a phased approach starting January 9th, 2026. WeSeptember 15, 2025. To continue scanning documents, we recommend users to useusing the scan capability in the OneDrive app.Microsoft 365 Copilot app, where we will continue to invest in new features and improvements.

When this will happen

  • Mid-September 2025: Retirement process begins.
  • Mid-October 2025: New installs of Microsoft Lens will be disabled in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
  • Mid-November 2025: Microsoft Lens will be removed from app stores.
  • Mid-December 2025: Users will no longer be able to create new scans in the Microsoft Lens app.

This change applies toaffects users of the Microsoft Lens mobile app on iOS and Android.

How this affects your organization

The app will be removed from the stores on February 9, 2026. Users who already have the app downloaded on their devices can continue to use the scanning capability in the app until March 9, 2026. After that,December 15, 2025, users will no longer be able to create new scans in the app. Existing scans will remain accessible in the app’s MyScans folder, but this functionality will no longer be supported. Users can continue scanning using the Microsoft 365 Copilot app, which offers similar functionality. Scans saved to access their previous scans from MyScansOneDrive will be accessible via the MyCreations section in the app after the change while they still have the app on their devices, although this capability will not be supported by Microsoft. Please note that users need to be signed into your last active account on the Microsoft Lens app to access past scans.
