Summary

Existing items remain unaffected. Admins should review settings to align with policies before enforcement begins.

More information

Introduction

Starting September 15, 2025, Microsoft Fabric will begin enforcing tenant and capacity-level admin settings that restrict the creation of Fabric items through public APIs and CI/CD methods (Git integration and Deployment pipelines). This change ensures that admin-defined controls are consistently respected across all creation methods.

When this will happen

This enforcement will begin rolling out on September 15, 2025, and will be available by default.

How this affects your organization

If your organization has configured admin settings to block the creation of specific Fabric item types—either in preview or generally available (GA)—those restrictions will now apply to all creation methods, including:

  • The UPDATE action in Git integration
  • The initial deployment of an item in Deployment pipelines
  • The Fabric Create Item public API

Impact:

  • New item creation: Blocked item types will no longer be creatable through any method.
  • Existing items: Items created before this enforcement will remain unaffected and will not be deleted.

What you can do to prepare

Admins should review and update tenant and capacity-level creation settings for Fabric items to ensure they align with organizational policies.
