Introduction

Microsoft Teams is improving the quick sharing experience by enabling search for cloud files directly within the attach file picker. This helps users find and attach the right files more quickly when sharing in chats and channels.

This message applies to Teams for Windows desktop, Teams for Mac desktop, and Teams for the web. It is associated with Roadmap ID 560814.

When this will happen:

  • Targeted Release (Worldwide): Rollout begins early June 2026 and is expected to complete late June 2026.
  • General Availability (Worldwide): Rollout begins mid-June 2026 and is expected to complete by late JuneJuly 2026 (previously late June).

How this affects your organization:

Who is affected:

  • Users who share and attach files in Microsoft Teams chats and channels using the quick sharing (Attach) experience.
  • Organizations that use cloud files available through Microsoft 365 (for example, OneDrive and SharePoint) in Teams.

What will happen:

  • Users will be able to search for cloud files directly in the attach file picker during the quick sharing experience.
  • The change reduces time spent browsing folders during file attachment.
  • Users will only see files they already have permission to access.
  • No changes are expected to existing file sharing permissions or policies.
