What and why
We are enhancing Restricted Content Discovery (RCD) for SharePoint to give organizations stronger control over how content is surfaced in Copilot and Microsoft 365 search. These updates help reduce the risk of oversharing while ensuring AI-powered experiences respect organizational policies and support secure and compliant use of enterprise AI.
Rollout schedule
General availability (Worldwide, GCC High, DoD): We will begin rolling out in late July 2026 and expect to complete in late JulySeptember 2026(previously late July).

| Does the change introduce or significantly modify AI/ML or agent capabilities that interact with customer data? | Yes. Copilot behavior is modified by preventing access to content from RCD-enabled sites. |
| Does the change alter how users can access their data? | Yes. Users cannot access RCD-protected content through Copilot or search surfaces. |
| Does the change include an admin control and can it be controlled through Entra ID group membership? | Yes. Behavior is controlled through existing RCD policy. |
