What and why
Microsoft Purview is expanding Data Loss Prevention (DLP) and Information Protection auto-labeling support for non-Microsoft applications. Administrators will be able to create and manage DLP and auto-labeling policies directly in Microsoft Purview for supported non-Microsoft applications.
These capabilities use Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps connectors to connect supported non-Microsoft applications to Microsoft Purview.

What will happen
After rollout, dedicated application locations will be available in Microsoft Purview for supported non-Microsoft applications.
These capabilities use Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps connectors to connect supported non-Microsoft applications to Microsoft Purview.
Administrators will be able to:
- Create and manage DLP policies for supported applications.
- Create and manage auto-labeling policies for supported applications.
Supported DLP application locations:
- Google Workspace
- Box
- Dropbox
- Salesforce
- ServiceNow
- AWS
- Cisco Webex
Supported auto-labeling application locations:
Available policy conditions and actions vary by application and may include content inspection, sensitivity labeling, notifications, quarantine actions, and access controls.
Before you create Microsoft Purview policy for any of these non-Microsoft applications, turn off or delete any Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps file policies for the same non-Microsoft locations. Running both at once can cause unexpected policy enforcement.

No action is required before rollout.
To use these capabilities:
- Connect the applicable application through Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps.
- Ensure your organization has the required Enterprise tier Microsoft Purview licensing.
- Review Microsoft Purview At Rest Protection pricing and billing implications before enabling these capabilities. Usage is billed through the Microsoft Purview At Rest Protection pay-as-you-go meter. The unit of measure for at-rest files in non-Microsoft applications is calculated at a rate of 1,000 files = 1 data asset.
