What and why

Microsoft is retiring 161 Microsoft 365 training modules and selected articles from the Microsoft Viva Learning catalog on September 21, 2026.

As part of our ongoing effort to maintain a high-quality learning catalog, outdated and redundant training content is being removed and refreshed. After August 30, 2026, the retired content will no longer be available in Microsoft Viva Learning. Where replacement content is available, updated learning content will be published in the Viva Learning catalog.

  • Worldwide:  Retirement of the listed content will occur on September 21, 2026.

What will happen

  • 161 Microsoft 365 training modules and selected articles will be removed from the Viva Learning catalog on August 30, 2026.
  • Users will no longer be able to launch or consume the retired content after the retirement date.
  • Users with bookmarked or in progress learning content will lose access to the retired modules once they are removed.
  • Learning paths, academies, recommendations, or assignments that reference retired content may contain unavailable content after the retirement date.
  • Replacement content will be published where applicable.

Action required and recommendations

Learning administrators should:

  • Monitor future Microsoft Viva Learning communications and documentation for additional information about the content retirement, including any content inventory that may become available.
  • Review learning paths, academies, assignments, and recommendations that may reference affected Microsoft 365 training content.
  • Update learning paths and academies to remove or replace retiring content, as appropriate.
  • Encourage users to complete any in-progress training before the retirement date.
