What and Why:
Video recap in Microsoft Teams uses AI to create a narrated highlight video from a recorded and transcribed meeting. It combines key meeting content with short video clips, helping users catch up without watching the full recording. With this update, Video recap is expanding support to 23 languages across 31 locale variants
The first set of supported languages includes: English, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese,Spanish. Arabic, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, Hebrew, Hungarian, Korean, Norwegian, Polish, Russian, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, and Ukrainian. Regional variants are supported for English, Chinese, French, Portuguese, and Spanish.
Rollout Schedule:
General Availability (WW): We will begin rolling out on late September 2026 and expect to complete by late September 2026.
Impact on Your Organization:
Users with a Microsoft 365 Copilot license will be able to access Video recap for eligible meetings in the supported languages.
For a Video recap to be available, the meeting must:
- Be between 10 and 90 minutes long.
- Be recorded and transcribed with cloud recording enabled.
- Meet the existing Microsoft 365 Copilot eligibility requirements.
After a meeting, users can open the meeting chat, select **Recap**, and then select **Video recap**. They can also open a past meeting from the Teams calendar and select **View recap**.
No separate Video recap file is created. Video recap data is stored with the original Teams recording in SharePoint or OneDrive.
Video recaps are AI-generated. Users should review the content for accuracy.
