What and why

We will retire the Challenge Assignments feature in Education Insights for Reading Progress effective December 31, 2026.

The Challenge Assignments feature currently enables educators to create follow-up Reading Progress assignments based on insights from previous assignments, including challenging words and, in English, challenging phonics rules. We are retiring this feature because educators can already create follow-up Reading Progress assignments based on challenging words directly from the Reading Progress assignment creation experience, providing a more streamlined and intuitive workflow. The option to create assignments based on challenging phonics rules, which has seen minimal usage, will be retired and will no longer be available.
