What and Why:
Microsoft is rolling out new capabilities in Audio Overview to make it easier to navigate longer content, support enterprise information protection, and create audio overviews from more types of content.
Episodes
For longer and more content-rich notebooks, Audio Overview can organize the discussion into topic-based episodes. This makes it easier for users to navigate the audio and focus on different parts of the content.
Sensitivity labels when saving to OneDrive
Audio Overviews now support Microsoft Purview sensitivity labels when saved to OneDrive. If the source content includes sensitivity labels, the saved Audio Overview inherits the most restrictive label from its sources. Sensitivity labels apply to the saved file in OneDrive. Audio Overviews within the notebook are not yet sensitivity labeled.
More supported content types
Audio Overview can now understand and ground its discussion in additional types of content added to a notebook, including:
- OneNote pages
- Loop pages
- Plain text (.txt) files
- Emails
- Teams meetings
- Teams chats
Rollout Schedule:

Action Required/Recommendations:
No admin action is required to prepare for this update. These Audio Overview improvements will roll out automatically to eligible users.
For sensitivity labels, when an Audio Overview is saved to OneDrive from labeled source content, the saved file will automatically inherit the most restrictive sensitivity label from its sources. No additional configuration is required as part of this feature rollout.
Compliance considerations:
| Does the change introduce or significantly modify AI/ML or agent capabilities that interact with or provide access to customer data? | Yes. Audio Overview uses AI capabilities to generate audio grounded in Microsoft 365 content, including additional supported content types. |
| Does the change provide end users any new way of interacting with generative AI? | Yes. Users can create and navigate Audio Overviews from more supported Microsoft 365 content sources. |
| Does the change modify, interrupt, or disable Purview capabilities such as Information Protection labels? | Yes. Audio Overviews saved to OneDrive from labeled source content inherit the most restrictive sensitivity label from the sources. |
