MC1536158 - Limits in Copilot Chat

Message Center

Summary

Microsoft is applying fair use limits to Copilot Chat features for users without a Microsoft 365 Copilot license, restricting access variably throughout the day. Limits affect web, desktop, and mobile apps, with notifications in-product. Admins cannot adjust limits but should inform help desk staff; no action is required.

More information

Microsoft uses fair use limits for some Copilot features for users without a Microsoft 365 Copilot license.

Features, such as image generation, already use limits, as previously communicated in MC1064749. We are applying this approach to additional Copilot Chat features and capabilities.

Users will be notified in-product if the capacity or feature is not available.

Rollout Schedule

Limits are currently used for some Copilot Chat capabilities and may expand to additional capabilities over time. New Copilot Chat limits are currently rolling out.
