Summary

Microsoft Teams is introducing a new calling feature called Private Line, which allows users to have a private second phone number for select callers to call them directly. The feature will support incoming calls only and will be rolled out worldwide and to GCC in mid-February 2024. The message also states that the feature will not be released to GCC High and DoD at this time. There is nothing that organizations need to do to prepare for the feature.

More information

Updated April 2, 2024: We have updated the rollout timeline below. Thank you for your patience.

Note: We are not releasing this feature to GCC High and DoD at this time and apologize for any inconvenience. We will communicate via Message center with a new timeline when available.

We are introducing a new calling feature. With private line, users will be able to have a private second phone number that they can make available to a select set of callers to call them directly, bypassing delegates, admins, or assistants. Inbound calls to the private line will be distinguished by a unique notification and ringtone. The private line will support incoming calls only.
