Updated December 15, 2023: We have updated the rollout timeline below. Thank you for your patience.

We're rolling out a new feature to enable customers with Microsoft Purview Audit (Premium) and the 10-Year Retention Add-on to create additional customized retention policies.

When this will happen:

Rollout to general availability in the worldwide clouds will begin in mid-December 2023 (previously early December) and is expected to be complete by early January 2024 (previously late December).

This new feature release enables additional customization for retention duration for Microsoft Purview Audit (Premium) and 10-year Audit Log Retention Add-On users.

• Currently, Audit (Premium) customers can retain data for 90 days , 6 months, 9 months, and up to 1 year. With this update, customers can now apply 3-year, 5-year, and 7-year retention policies.

What you need to do to prepare:

Apply the Audit Premium and 10 Year Retention Add-on Licenses to each relevant user in order to apply 3-year, 5-year, and 7-year retention policies to their data.
