Users can now use third-party chat and meeting keyboard shortcuts in Microsoft Teams by selecting a layout in the settings. The rollout will start in early May 2025 for targeted release and mid-June 2025 for general availability. No admin action is required, but user notification and documentation updates are recommended.
Updated June 13, 2025: We have updated the timeline below. Thank you for your patience.
Users familiar with keyboard shortcuts from third-party chat and meeting applications can use those same shortcuts in Microsoft Teams. To enable this, go to the Settings and more button in the upper right, access the keyboard shortcuts dialog, and select a communication or meeting layout. This allows users to apply the shortcuts they are used to from other applications.
