Business Value
For trade counter and call center operations, orders often need to reach the warehouse quickly so that picking and fulfillment activities can begin without delay. Without a direct path from Commerce to the warehouse management system, staff must manually intervene on every order, which slows fulfillment and increases the risk of missed or delayed shipments.
This feature removes that bottleneck by automatically releasing routine orders on a scheduled basis, eliminating repetitive manual steps and allowing staff to focus on serving customers. For urgent scenarios where a customer is waiting at the counter, the Rush release option sends the order to the warehouse immediately. Together, these capabilities help retailers fulfill orders faster, reduce errors associated with manual handling, and scale trade counter operations without adding headcount.
Feature Detail
Expedited and rush release: Associates can mark an order or individual order lines as Expedited or Rush in Store Commerce. This action triggers an immediate, synchronous release to the warehouse instead of waiting for the next batch run. Store Commerce displays a confirmation message that indicates whether the release was successful. The expedite flag is passed to the warehouse management system so that warehouse workers can prioritize picking for the order.
