Activate this feature by turning on the Enable purchase orders and item reservations for stocked items in Project Operations integrated with ERP feature within the Feature management workspace on the finance and operations architecture. When you enable this feature, you get the following capabilities:
Purchase order creation: Project managers can create purchase orders directly from item requirements. This capability enables procurement of stocked materials that align with project needs.
Option to automatically create item requirements from purchase orders: Project managers who don't usually work with sales orders can get the benefits of item requirements while managing only purchase orders.
Cost recording at receipt: You can record project costs when you receive the product, instead of waiting for the vendor to invoice. This capability improves financial accuracy and timeliness.
Master planning integration: You can integrate with Dynamics 365 ERP master planning to autogenerate planned purchases or transfer orders based on project forecasts.
This feature will initially be available as a preview starting with the 10.0.49 release.
Business Value:
The purchase orders using item requirements feature in Dynamics 365 Project Operations integrated with ERP enhances operational efficiency and financial accuracy by automating the procurement process for stocked materials tied to project needs.
This feature reduces manual effort and procurement delays by automatically generating item requirements from purchase orders. It improves cost visibility and budget control by ensuring real-time material consumption and cost recognition during product receipt.
Material usage synchronizes across Dynamics 365 Finance and Project Operations through seamless integration with Microsoft Dataverse through dual-write, which maintains data consistency. The system also supports three-way matching between purchase orders, receipts, and vendor invoices to ensure compliance and reduce financial discrepancies.
You can reserve stock for project-specific usage in Dataverse to ensure material availability, which minimizes project delays and enhances delivery timelines.
