RM577867 - Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management: Check margins when overriding prices in Unified pricing management

Microsoft 365 Roadmap

Summary

Price override allows sales representatives to adjust the preset price of a product during a transaction—typically for business purposes such as customer negotiations and retention. Previously, price override validation only enforced amount-based thresholds, without evaluating how the override would impact profit margins. Unified pricing management now provides margin check capabilities for price overrides across all order entry channels available in Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management.

Description

Price override allows sales representatives to adjust the preset price of a product during a transaction—typically for business purposes such as customer negotiations and retention. Previously, price override validation only enforced amount-based thresholds, without evaluating how the override would impact profit margins. Unified pricing management now provides margin check capabilities for price overrides across all order entry channels available in Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management.

Orders entered through Commerce Scale Unit or Point of Sale

For organizations that use Dynamics 365 Commerce to process sales transactions through Commerce Scale Unit (CSU) or Point of Sale (POS), margin visibility is integrated directly into the price override workflow. When a retail associate or sales representative initiates a price override, the system performs a real-time margin check alongside the existing threshold validation, ensuring that every override decision is informed by its impact on profitability before the transaction is completed.

Orders entered at headquarters

Sales orders created directly in Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management at headquarters also support margin checks for price overrides. When a user enters a price override that breaches a defined margin threshold, the system automatically triggers an approval workflow that requires a sales manager or designated approver to review and authorize the override before the order is allowed to proceed.
