Updated December 1, 2025: We have updated the timeline. Thank you for your patience.

Introduction:

We’re updating the AI Disclaimer experience in Microsoft Copilot Chatbased on customer feedback. Some users found the disclaimer too distracting, while others felt it was too subtle. To address this, we’re introducing an admin controlcontrols that allowsallow organizations to customize how the disclaimer appears, improving user awareness and flexibility.

When this will happen:

Rollout will begin in early Decemberlate November 2025 (previously late November) and complete by:

  • Worldwide & GCC: mid-Early December 2025 (previously early December)
  • GCC High & DoD: mid-January 2026 (previously mid-Mid-December 2025)2025

How this affects your organization:

Who is affected:

  • All users of Microsoft Copilot Chat on desktop and web experiences.
  • across all endpoints.

    What will happen:

    • The AI disclaimerDisclaimer below the Input Box will remain visible in the user experience. be OFF by default.
    • Admins will gainhave a new toggle to enable the ability to heighten this message and to provide a link to their own documentation:disclaimer.
      • If enabled:
        • The disclaimer will display bolded text for increased visibility.
        • Admins can configure a custom URL pointing or use the default link to theirMicrosoft documentation.
        • Both Starter and Premium users can see the Input Box and the AI policy documentation.Disclaimer (if enabled), so a Copilot license is not explicitly required for visibility.
