Updated October 6, 2026: We have updated the timeline. Thank you for your patience.

What and Why:

We are introducing a new Call Monitor experience in Microsoft Teams for Web that helps users stay connected to meetings while working in other browser tabs. When users move away from an active meeting tab, Teams can display key meeting controls in a separate Picture-in-Picture (PiP) window, making it easier to manage calls and meetings without returning to the meeting tab.

This enhancement improves multitasking during meetings and helps users remain engaged while working elsewhere in their browser.

Rollout Schedule:

  • Targeted Release (Worldwide): Rollout will begin in early mid-October 2026 (previously early October) and is expected to complete by mid-October 2026 (previously early October 2026.October).
  • General Availability (Worldwide): Rollout will begin in early mid-October 2026 (previously early October) and is expected to complete by late October 2026.
