What changed since this version

Updated August 6, 2026: We have updated the timeline. Thank you for your patience.

What and Why

We are introducing enhanced IntelliFrame capabilities for Teams Rooms on Windows using an expanded AI data channel on certified intelligent cameras. This update enables faster active speaker framing, improved in-room participant recognition and labeling, and more responsive meeting views.

By processing AI metadata directly on the device and sending it through a dedicated data channel rather than relying only on cloud processing, this feature reduces dependency on network conditions and improves performance in bandwidth-constrained environments. This helps deliver a more consistent and intelligent meeting experience for both in-room and remote participants.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 564969.

Rollout Schedule

  • General Availability (Worldwide): Beginning mid-SeptemberOctober 2026 (previously mid-September) and expected to complete by mid-OctoberNovember 2026 (previously mid-October)
